Satan’s purpose: to get you to give up. God’s purpose: to produce greater faith. Faith must be tried 'under fire' (1 Pet. 1:5). But, you are not alone. Nebuchadnezzar said, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace? ‘Look!’ “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!” (Daniel 3:24-25).
When things on earth start heating up, Jesus is not only present, He is praying that “your faith will not fail” (Lk. 22:32). “Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.” Don’t lose heart; He is coming soon (Heb. 10:37-38).

ReplyDeleteI confess that I want an easy life. I think we all do. But God wants strong people, full of faith and love. Those kind of people do not grow out of easy lives. It is God's intent to make us more like Jesus, that He might enjoy us forever (to turn the Westminster Catechism), and everything that happens to us is meant to serve that purpose. Everything that happens to us has already been filtered through His hand of love for us. I just need the eye of faith and the heart of belief to perceive the hand of God in my life. Yes, in the stressful and challenging moments and yes, in the little inconsequential moments. Because if God is everywhere, God is here... with me, and God is not silent.

and the writer of Hebrews warns us that if we are not experiencing this kind of training in righteousness, we need to check our birth certificates! and yes, God is speaking, but unfortunately, not everyone is listening!
