Get on your knees… please, I don’t care what church you go to, no church at all, I don’t care. Turn to Him.” Almost sounds good, doesn't it! Wait a minute...
Glenn Beck, a converted Mormon having been raised Catholic, claims to be speaking for God. And conservative evangelicals are embracing him. In fact, I have had some friends ask me whether I think Glenn Beck is a Christian. Why? Because he speaks of ‘faith.’ So once again, I feel compelled to remind us what faith is. Faith is a belief in the Word of God. Faith believes IN JESUS. “Biblical” faith leads us to Jesus.
Many in our day speak of faith. But not Biblical faith. Faith is NOT some force in the universe we can call upon to make things come to pass. Positive thinking, maybe. But not faith. In these days, there are many who claim to be people of faith, claiming to speak for God (Luke 21:8). But beware! Even the slightest study on Mormonism should be enough to persuade you that Glenn Beck cannot possibly be speaking for God. And knows nothing of real faith.

ReplyDeleteGlen Beck asks some thought-provoking questions about our nation's government; he also makes some good points about political issues. He apparently is a deep thinker and gets great coverage for his intelligence and opinions.
Yet, whether he is a Christian or not God MAY speak through him. If God can use the voice of a donkey to warn someone away from a threatening circumstance then God can also use a converted from Catholicism Mormon to speak to the heart of our nation.
Does Glen Beck speak FOR God? No. God reserves the right to do so Himself. And His message to a sinful world has been the same...repent and live!

Thanks. I can only say so much in a post, but yes, Glenn Beck is speaking some good messages, a return to our Godly roots being one of them.
ReplyDeleteBut we better be careful when we, along with Glenn Beck and all the others, who, as he says, "go to 'any' church, or no church at all," get on our knees with them. You never know what 'god' they may be invoking!! What God do you think Glenn is 'turning to?'

ReplyDeleteGood point. Regretably, Glen Beck may be praying to the same god we are...the god of our own imagination. This should serve to remind us that we need to "...know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day!"
